A Pine Grove woman, age 73, died after her car was ablaze in an accident that occurred at Tremont Twp at Schuylkill County one Saturday afternoon.

The victim identified as Barbara Shuster was operating a Buick 2001 Century and was hit by a Hummer 2005 driven by operator David Frew, age 48, and a resident of Pine Grove.

According to the police, the five Good Samaritans were Christopher Cluber, Jeremy Lengle, Scott Lyons, Michael Macareno, and Gordon Wolfe who rushed to help and was able to pull a passenger out from the burning vehicle at Mollystown Rd. onto R-125 at around 3:25 o’clock that afternoon.

The blaze was caused by Shuster’s fuel tank that ruptured, and the vehicle caught fire after the crash.

According to the police, the life of passenger Sunsan Mindermann, age 64, resident of Pine Grove, was saved by five good witnesses who were in a nearby vehicle.

Christopher Cluber, Jeremy Lengle, Scott Lyons, Michael Macareno, and Gordon Wolfe ran to the burning vehicle, smashed the car window and carried the passenger inside to safety, the police recounted.

The two victims from the Century Buick were rushed to the Medical Center of Hershey but Shuster was beyond help although Mindermann, treated from injuries sustained, was able to survive.

The condition of Mindermann’s was not immediately released to the media, as well as the extent of Frew’s condition.

A deadly collision in the County of Schuylkill was a story that showed extreme tragedy and heroism. The accident happened at around 3:25 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the corner of R-125 and Molleystown Rd. in the Twp. of Tremont. This was the scene of the tragedy of Barbara Shuster, age 73, from Pine Grove, when her car crashed with another vehicle.

According to state police, due to the impact of the crash, the fuel tank of Shuster’s car ruptured and immediately catches fire.

Heroism was exhibited when five men in passing vehicles pulled over and rushed to free a Pine Grove woman of 65 who was trapped in the burning vehicle. Police said that if not for their heroic efforts, Susan Mindermann would have died. The men smash out the window and pull her from the rapidly burning vehicle.

Police reported that the wreck occurred when the car of Shuster car pulled out from Molleystown Rd. and went right into the path of a Hummer that was operated by David Frew, age 48 resident of Pine Grove. Driver Frew and passenger of the fatality Mindermann were both delivered to the Medical Center of Hershey.

The crash is being investigated by the Police. They have identified the five Good Samaritans as Christopher Cluber, Jeremy Lengle, Scott Lyons, Michael Macareno, and Gordon Wolfe who were responsible for saving at least one life.
