The County judge of Allegheny found that an ex officer of Pittsburgh police guilty of involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence, but he was not considered guilty of homicide by vehicle. The case was heard by a non-jury trial helped on the deadly accident involving an off-duty officer..

Adam Lewis was convicted of DUI and involuntary manslaughter that followed a crash that took the life of killed Jessica Lojak, age 28 and resident of Fawn Twp.

The verdict was not welcome by relatives of the victim for they were greatly affected by the actuations of Adam Lewis, age 31, as he was led from the courtroom.

According to the victim’s brother, Ryan Lojak said that as the convict was led out of the courtroom, Lewis gazed at them just for a little while, grinned, smile and gave them a wink. For Ryan, the action was out of place.

Jessica Lojak died on the 26th of September 2010. She was a passenger of Lewis when his personal motorcycle crossed over the center line crashed head-on into an SUV along Mifflin Road. Lewis was giving Lojak a ride home from a bachelorette party of his fiancée. The family of Lojak mentioned that there was no communication from Lewis since Jessica’s death more than three years ago.

Aunt Rhonda Lojak said Lewis never sent any card, there were no calls and nothing.  And then during that time in court, he was able to get a conviction he did not deserve. What happened to American justice?

Ryan Lojak stated that the situation is difficult and she does not even know if the convicted is getting what is just or not.  But nothing will ever bring back her sister.

Rhonda Lojak said that the family is struggling with their loss. The family seemed to be ripped apart as Jessica served as the pillar of our family.  She was the one taking care of her grandfather, her grandmother who was dead six months after the accident due to a broken heart.

Adams’ defense attorney said that he is aware that the accident was gut-wrenching for the victim’s family; but they should also be aware that the defendant and his family are also grieving over the entire matter.  In this kind of cases, there are no winners.

Judge Jeffrey Manning stated during the trial that the evidence established that Lewis was driving his motorcycle around15 to 20 mph faster than the legal 25 mph speed limit.  BAC test showed that his level was 0.108 and the legal limit in Pennsylvania is only 0.08.

Judge Jeffrey Manning sentenced to Lewis last January was a great impact to the victim’s families and relatives.  For now, Lewis going about free under a bond and under electronic home monitoring.

Defense attorney stated that the verdict was pleasing to his client but there is still the possibility that his client will end up in jail.

Lewis is facing a potential maximum sentence of about 5 years imprisonment.
