Canton Township – A mother was injured in a crash with two young children as she was driving along Washington County. Police are suspecting that she was driving DUI.

Skariot was driving west along State Route 40 when for unknown reasons; she lost control of her vehicle and swerved off the roadway. After the car ran off the road for more than 100 feet, the vehicle hit a guardrail followed by a tree.

After the vehicle hit the tree, it descended an embankment that made it rolled over at least once.

When police reached the scene, they suspected that Skariot was under the influence of both alcohol and pills.

Authorities found an bottle of Bud Light inside the vehicle together with 113 pieces of Xanax pills and around 14 Ambien pills.

Skariot sustained moderate injuries and was airlifted by ambulance helicopter to the Presbyterian Hospital UPMC. During the accident, Skariot was not wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities found two boys in the car with ages 8 and 9. They had severe injuries and airlifted to Children’s Hospital. Both boys were not safely restrained in the required booster seats.

Following a wreck in Washington County, two children were flown by medical helicopter to Pittsburgh’s Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh last Saturday night with what police described as severe injuries.

Washington County State police confirmed that Stacy Lee Skariot was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs when she lost control of her vehicle. Police neither identified the residence of Skariot nor the identities of her sons. They just said that the woman had moderate injuries.

The wreck happened at 10:00 o’clock in the evening along Canton’s West Chestnut St. Skariot going west on Route 40 lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a guardrail and a tree. The vehicle descended a hill then rolled at least once before it came to rest.

According to police, Skariot did not wear a seat belt neither of the boys were secured in booster seats as required by law.

A give away to the preference of the driver was the presence of an open bottle of beer inside the car. Plice also recovered more than 100 pills of drugs.

Police said that two male kids, ranging from ages 8 and 9, were seated at the back but not safely secured in a booster seat. They sustained severe injuries.
