PITTSBURGH– A head-on collision in Kane left six people dead and two injured that is being investigated by Police.

The mishap occurred at about 4:30 o’clock in the afternoon Saturday at State Route 219 in the TWP of Hamilton, McKean County.

Police identified Kathy Douglas, age 36 who was driving a car with three kid ranging from ages 6, 10 and 12.

For reasons unknown, the car of Douglas went over the double line toward the approaching traffic and hit heads-on another car.

Killed in the wreck passengers in the car of Douglas were (1) Olivia Douglas, age 12 , resident  of  Eldred, daughter of the driver; and  (2) Jarrett Costanzo, age  6, resident of Kane, her nephew. The  four passengers in the second car who died were:  (1) Gary Beimel, age 62; (2) David Cuneo, age 54, (3 ) Elaine Beimel, age 55; and (4) Florence Donachy, age 81, all residing in St. Mary.

Douglas and her child, age 10 in her car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The other 6-year-old and 12-year-old children inside her car were declared dead at the scene.

All six passengers were pronounced dead at the scene following the crash that happened in McKean County.

According to police report, on the 31st of August, a Jeep operated by Kathleen Douglas traveling along U.S. R- 219 hit a car driven by Gary Beimel in a head-on collision near its intersection with Meade Run Road.

Kathleen Douglas and her 10-year-old son sustained serious injuries. Meanwhile, two of her passengers were her daughter Olivia, age 12  and her nephew Jarrett, age 6 both died. Beimel, the driver of the other vehicle and all three of his passengers were killed as well.

Weather and road conditions were not a factor of the crash as the day of the was clear of heavy traffic, no sign of any potholes or other defects and the weather conditions were sunny and clear with no fog or precipitation of any kind.

The Jeep veered toward the center line as the two vehicles collided head-on. The Jeep turned over clockwise and rested off the road; while the car rested at the point of impact.

Authorities learned that the day prior to the crash, Douglas picked up a drug prescribed for herself that was the pills called Clonazepam about .5 ml at 60 count.

The police are continuing their investigation to file appropriate charges for the the person responsible for the death of 6 people. They are looking into the angle of drubs as they found prescription drug inside the vehicle of the driver. But result of the laboratory test will be coming after a few weeks. Weather condition and road condition are out as factors for the day was fine , no traffic and no pot holes on the road.
