A man from Waynesburg was killed when the car he was operating was involved in a two-vehicle crash that happened this morning at Greene County.

Police identified the fatality as Charles Hoyle, age 63. Due to injuries sustained, he was pronounced dead at the scene by Mary Lewis who is the chief deputy coroner of Greene County.

This report of the accident was contained in Pennsylvania State Police press release coming from the Waynesburg barracks.

According to the report, the fatal accident took place along Route 218 at the vicinity of Horseshoe Lane, in the Twp. of Franklin. It occurred just at the southern part of Waynesburg at about 5:30 o’clock in the morning.

State police stated that the victim Hoyle was operating his car and traveling south along R- 218. When he moved towards the northbound lane, he was hit by a vehicle that was operated by David Barr, age 19, and resident of Fairview, W.Va.

Due to the mishap, the police decided to close part of Route 218 to the frustrations of commuters along the area. However, after the preliminary investigation was conducted and the site clean, was soon reopened for traffic. Barr, the driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and was not injured.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol records, last June, a crash at the corner of Weems Chapel and Gap Creek roads in Greene County caused the death of one person.

Patrol Trooper Ronnie Hall identified the fatality as Candace Tackett, age 25. She was killed in the wreck that was reported at 9:11 o’clock Friday evening.

According to the report, the vehicle a Lincoln 1997 was running eastward along Gap Creek Road. It left the roadway and swerved long the right side of Weems Chapel Road, going down an embankment and overturned. The impact ejected the driver and the vehicle landed on top of her.

The fatality, Tackett was not wearing any seatbelt; while Hall stated in his report that he believed that had the woman wore a safety restraint she would not have been killed.

According to authorities, drugs could have been an important factor involved in the accident and further testing was scheduled to be given.
