At least three people, including one teenager and a 7-year-old girl, died Tuesday afternoon after a violent six-vehicle crash in Anne Arundel County.

The tragedy was that the fatalities were a mother and two young girls. Authorities identified the victims as (1) Abigail Cullen; (2) Lauren Dempsey; and (3) Bethany Dempsey. They were all killed following a vehicular crash.

Police Chief Kevin Davis of Anne Arundel County said the crash took place a little after 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon of Tuesday at the southbound Route 3 along the vicinity of Route 32 in Gambrills. Official stated that the mishap involved five cars and a flatbed truck.

Officials of the Anne Arundel County Police were able to identify all the victims who died following the crash. They were Bethany Dawn Dempsey, age 37; daughter Lauren, age 14; and Abigail Randi Cullen, age 7.

The fatalities were easily identified as they were well-known members of the community. Bethany Dempsey is the daughter of Steve Dempsey who is the concurrent sheriff of King George County; Lauren is the granddaughter of the sheriff while Abigail is daughter of Bethany’s boyfriend.

The operator of the vehicle and the boyfriend of Bethany was identified old Michael Thomas Cullen, age 37. He was delivered to the area hospital in critical condition but medical staff said he will survive. Along with Cullen was Bubba ahis 15-year-old son Bubba, who was seated in front. Abigail, the 7-year-old who died, was his daughter.

All the five victims are residents of Warsaw, Va., and the family on their way home.

The pile-up involved four other injured victims who were not yet identified.

Based on the report of authorities, all vehicles were traveling towards the south on Route 3. As they were nearing the traffic, a flatbed truck rear-ended the Toyota Camry that Dempsey, Cullen and their children were riding in.

The crash followed a domino effect as several vehicles crashed each other. Officials said that the flatbed truck was traveling according to the 50 mph speed limit at the time of the collision.

A car driver beside the crash, who wanted to remain unidentified, described moments of confusion with one car coming to a stop and a truck coming by.

The first responders at the scene were so emotionally affected that a counselor was dispatched.

One of the witnesses, identified as Jim Cox said that the seat of his wife was broken and she was in a lot of pain. He was not allowed by the emergency team to get to her. At least, he was glad that she survived.

Police confirmed that one woman and 2 young girls were killed in a 7-vehicle pile-up crash along Gambrills in Anne Arundel County. Two of the victims were a mother and teen daughter. The 3rd victim was a 7-year-old girl. There were others injured in the accident.
