After 8:30 o’clock in the morning, the lane of Interstate 70 eastbound was finally reopened. Imagine how many gallons of grape juice were wasted after a rig pulling loads of the succulent fruit crashed, spilling the fruits with its sticky juices all over southwestern highway in Pennsylvania!

Early Tuesday at 2:40 o’clock in the morning, State police responded to a call about a wreck between Mt. Pleasant and Smithton exits.

According to the police, the tractor trailer operated Chad Mathers, age 48 and resident of Jefferson City, Missouri, hit a car hauler parked along side of the road with its sleeping driver. The truck filled with fruit was propelled up a small rising embankment, overturned and spilled its load.

Authorities said that Mathers will be charged for not staying in his proper lane. Although Mathers was unharmed; police delivered the other driver to the Hospital at Mon Valley as he sustained moderate injuries.

This Tuesday morning a overturned tractor-trailer came up as a sticky issue along I-70 in the County of Westmoreland.

Near the Twp. of South Huntingdon that early morning, a tractor-trailer hauling grape juice and grapes crashed along the road.

Mather, the tractor-trailer, clipped another big rig parked along the road side before the exit of West Newton Exit also known as Mount Pleasant exit. The driver of the parked car carrier, identified as Billy Deleon, age 48 and resident of Clifton, New Jersey, was asleep inside his rig when the grape truck clipped his cab.

At 6:00 o’clock that morning, only one lane on the eastbound side of the road was opened to vehicles. The scattered grapes were cleared at 8:30 o’clock that morning.

Earl Fink, driver of a passing truck, said that he has been on the road for three decades and was wondering why the sleepy operator decide to park his rig at the interstate shoulder when there are other safer spots. Fink said that nationwide, he is aware that there is lack of proper parking facilities for truckers so then drivers want to rest a bit, they would decide to stay on the first available space along the road.

To cover up the slick grape juice along the road, PennDOT crews were using sand.

Police said that the wreck was such a mess when a tractor-trailer operated by 48-years-old Chad Mathers of Jefferson City hit another vehicle, car hauler whose driver was sleeping inside the rig he parked off the side of the road in South Huntingdon

When the fruit-hauling truck headed up a small embankment, it over turned and spilled all its content all over the road.

Crews stated that the driver of the fruit-truck was unharmed but the  injured.

The second driver sustained minor injuries and was treated in Mon Valley Hospital. .
