Saturday saw the Mt. Lebanon police searching for the operator of a tiny red-colored SUV jeep that ran over and critically injured a 28-years-old woman who was crossing Washington Rd., and fled from the scene before the arrival of the authorities.

Witnesses told the police that the driver was a white complexion or an Indian man standing 5’8″ tall, sporting a short dark hair and medium build. Based on the statement of deputy chief Aaron Lauth, after hitting the woman, he approached the victim who was thrown a distance of about 60 feet by the impact and was lying prone in the street; but as a crowd started to gather; he got cold feet, returned to his car and continued driving northward Downtown and Dormont Pittsburgh.

The victim sustained injuries of broken femurs, or thigh bones and head concussion that would need contusion of several staples to close. She was rushed to UPMC-Mercy hospital, where she was treated and will soon be released.

Police said that it was easy to Id the vehicle as there would be damage to the front passenger’s side of the vehicle or at the hood. Officers continued their investigation of the accident and are seeking footage of video surveillance cameras from several in the area, and plan to release that footage to the public if possible.

Mt. Lebanon police reported that they have they the man responsible for a hit and run accident. Identified as Anthony Flores, 49, age, he turned himself in to the police station.

Police stated that the victim was hit by the SUV that Flores was driving and thrown several feet and landed at the intersection of Cedar Blvd. and Washington Ave.

She was left in a pitiful state with two broken legs, and a head concussion.

Before the incident, the woman was with a group of friends; however, she was alone in the street against the green light.

Charges filed against Flores included felony for causing the accident and disturbing the physical evidence. Flores surrendered voluntarily by going to the police station Friday morning. Thereupon, he was charged with accidents causing death or personal injury, disturbing or making physical evidence and fleeing from the scene and not reporting accident to police department.

It was around 10:30 o’clock Saturday evening when investigators were called to a vehicle-pedestrian accident at the corner of Cedar and Washington.

The police reported that the woman was crossing the street when she was run over.

According to witnesses, Flores first got out of the car and approached the witnesses with a look of surprise; but he left promptly when he left that bystanders were already tending to the woman.

The victim sustained broken femurs and head concussion; however, the name has not been released.
