Pittsburgh – A young man was seriously injured after he crashed his vehicle into a tree that caused the car to split in half.

Police identified the injured driver as George Buncic, age 21, resident of Point Marion who was over speeding along Fayette County. For unknown reasons, he lost control along Rte. 119 in the Georges Twp. at about 4:00 o’clock that Saturday morning.

Buncic sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The impact of the car against tree was so strong that the vehicle split into two that seriously injured the Point Marion driver.

According to police, it was obvious that Buncic was traveling at such a high rate of speed along the south lane of Morgantown Rd. For unknown reasons, he lost control of his Dodge 2014Avenger that smashed with such impact against several trees that the car divided in two parts.

Buncic was ejected from the vehicle and was airlifted by helicopter ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Police reported that the front part of the Avenger ended across a field on the west side of the road, while the rear portion alighted in the northbound lane of Morgantown Rd.

Car’s splitting in half after an accident is not rare but commonly happening in car disasters.

The condition of the man from Point Marion has been upgraded by the hospital after the one-car accident last Saturday in Twp. of Georges.

Police said that George A. Buncic, 21, of Point Marion was lucky that he survived after the horrible one-car wreck that occurred just south of Hitters Delight Rd.

Buncic was ejected from the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. He was flown to Morgantown’s Ruby Memorial Hospital. Today, hospital spokesperson said that his condition is upgraded to stable good and will be going home soon.

Police learned that Buncic was driving his Avenger when he lost control of the vehicle. He veered off the roadway and crashed into several trees. The impact caused the vehicle to split in half with one part resting in a field on the west side of the roadway. while another part rested in the northbound lane.

In most instances of car-splitting mishaps, speed is considered an important factor. It was over-speeding that killed “Fast & Furious” icon Paul Walker. This was the result of investigation of the fiery car crash that ended the actor’s life last year. The death of Paul Walker was due to a crash attributed more to over speeding and not due to any mechanical failure of the vehicle. This conclusion was reached by the Sheriff of Los Angeles County who handled the case.

Investigators have determined that the cause of cars splitting during a crash on the road is unsafe speed; in fact, it is the major factor
