Shooting done last Friday night at the Travelodge on Rte. 611 in Paradise Twp. involved three men from North Carolina who according to a police report released this afternoon all said that were employed at the Kalahari water park.

The names whose ages ranged from 20, 39 and 41 did not have their names released; but they all came from Lumberton, North Carolina.

The shooting incident occurred at around 8:00 o’clock in that Friday afternoon along a parking lot located at the back of the t motel.

According to police, they responded to a call involving a shootout where two men were shot: the 20-year-old man was hit in the abdomen while his 39-year-old companion was wounded at the lower back.

The police were able to interview briefly both men prior to their delivery to the Medical Center of Pocono. Policc were informed by both men that the youngest man had a history of bad blood with the other man involved in the shooting, who was the oldest of the men. Both men concurred that the 20-year-old had once an altercation with the third person from Roberson, North Carolina.

While the police were conducting their investigation, they were informed that the 41-year-old man was admitted into the Medical Center of Pocono sustaining a gunshot wound on the chest. The scene was guarded while the witnesses were interviewed.

Police were informed that two vehicles fled the scene; but one was recovered near the Medical Center and the other vehicle was parked before an apartment complex where most of the involved parties were billeted.

However, the police clarified that per their investigation; only these three men were involved in the shooting.

Police wanted to get at the bottom of the incident and continued their investigation of the Travelodge hotel shooting incident near Mount Pocono in Rte. 611.

At around 8:00 o’clock that Friday evening, Monroe County police responded to a hotel shoot out involving two men and they were informed that a third casualty was admitted for treatment for gunshot wound on the chest at a nearby hospital.

As probing is still ongoing, no arrests & charges have been filed and no suspect was named.

All three people involved are construction workers at the Kalahari Resort that is the newest water park built in the Poconos.

Officials did not release the released the identities of the suspects or stated the conditions of the injured but said that all three are alive.

State police assured the public that the incident is settled and there was no more threat for people in the hotel.

Investigators surmised that the shooting resulted from an altercation between men employed at the water park.

A clerk at the Travelodge announced that the hotel is open for business and the operation is continued as only the area where the mishap happened was off limits.

A female hotel resident was surprised that the place that was normally quiet was filled with policemen who were everywhere touting their guns while others were wearing their SWAT gear.

She is hoping that the activities will be done and the place will be peaceful once more.
